- Test without wholesale buying
- Delist what doesn't sell
In short
To test a new product without stocking it, you can use dropshipping, or stock-free e-commerce: you list the product in your store and, when an order comes, the supplier ships it to your customer. You haven't bought wholesale for something that doesn't sell; your risk stays at the package fee, your time and any ad spend. Signup is free, selling needs a package. Demand and profit are not guaranteed.

SoonThree risks of testing a new product
I buy it and it won't sell
If a wholesale product doesn't sell, the stock stays with you. In a stock-free test the product stays with the supplier; unsold products leave you no stock load.
I can't know demand in advance
You list the product in small numbers and follow orders. The interest you get informs whether you scale the product up.
Testing has a cost too
The package fee, your time and your ad spend are costs. We don't say zero cost; we say no stock capital is needed.
Test the market before you commit
Start small, test
You begin with a few products; drop what draws no interest, lean into what does.
Stock risk doesn't stay with you
The product stays with the supplier; if it doesn't sell, no boxes or shelf load pile up.
See your margin first
You work out the gap between selling and supply price before you list.
Test with wholesale stock, or stock-free?
| Criterion | Test with wholesale stock | Stock-free test |
|---|---|---|
| Before you start | You pay for a minimum order quantity | No stock capital; there is a package fee |
| If it doesn't sell | Stock and shelf load stay with you | You delist it; no stock load |
| Delivery | You pack and hand parcels to the courier | The supplier ships |
| Delivery time | In your own hands | Depends on the supplier; you follow the order |
| Income | Depends on sales, no guarantee | Depends on sales, no guarantee |

Questions on your mind
What do I lose if the product flops?
You don't lose stock money; the package fee, your time and any ad spend remain. Profit is not guaranteed.
Is it free to start?
Signup is free. You need a package to sell; packages and prices are listed clearly on the site.
How long should I test?
There is no fixed period. Start with a few products and watch orders and customer questions; keep or drop the product once you have enough data to decide.
Do I need a tax certificate?
Marketplaces usually ask for a tax certificate; in many cases a sole proprietorship can be enough. Ask an accountant for details.
What if the supplier can't ship the product?
Products can run out at the supplier. Then you tell the customer; if a product sells out often, delisting it is the better choice.
